Services

The George Coon Public Library offers a number of services to our patrons. Most of our services are free and open to the public. We ask that you review our policies page for rules and regulations regarding book checkout, video rental, computer/internet usage, etc. To view upcoming events, please visit our calendar.

Library Cards

Get your library card to take advantage of our book, magazine, CD, & DVD checkout system. Books, back issues of magazines, and CD’s are available to be checked out for 2 weeks. DVD’s can be checked out for 48 hours. While we do not charge overdue fees, we do ask that you respect the time restraints and return your items on time.

Computer and WiFi Services

We are happy to offer internet accessible computer usage, as well as free public wifi at our facility. Children under 12 wishing to use the computers are allowed to do so as long as the parent/guardian is present. Children 13-17 are allowed to use the computers without a parent/guardian, however, any child under the age of 18 must first have a signed internet access/computer usage agreement form. Printing/Copying/Faxing

We are happy to offer printing, copying, and faxing services at the library. Receipt of a fax is FREE. Pricing goes as follows:

  • Copying/Printing: $0.25 per page
  • Faxing: $3.00 for first page/ $1.00 for every additional page.

Glenn E. Martin Genealogy Center

Our expanded Genealogy Center is home to hundreds of family research books and materials, family files, obituary files, microfilm records, census records, and countless other valuable collections of genealogical materials. Visit the Martin Genealogy Center for any and all family research information. The Genealogy Center also features a wealth of information on the Trail of Tears, with materials donated by the Trail of Tears Commission. Find many Native American artifacts, books and source files in your search for Native American ancestry.

Search our entire database of books, artifacts, equipment, manuscripts, pictures, and much more! You can search by keyword, title, author, series, or even subject, and check availability of our current inventory.

Kentucky Virtual Library

KYVL provides access to over 60 encyclopedias, full text and citation databases as well as test prep and skill-building resources, How to Do Research tutorials and more.  Contact the Reference desk for your id and password to use KYVL at home.
