Free Books from Birth to Age 5
Did you know that every child in Caldwell County and George Coon Public Library's service area (from birth to five years old) can receive a free, monthly, age-appropriate book from Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library? The books are mailed directly to the child, and they get to keep them! Imagination Library is supported by various community members, including foundations, corporations, grants, and individual donors. If you’re interested, we’d love for you to donate and help us nurture the next generation of readers in Caldwell County.
FAQ's about Dolly's Imagination Library
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a wonderful program that sends free, high-quality books to children from birth to five years old, regardless of their family’s income. This program has reached children worldwide, and it’s now available in Caldwell County and surrounding areas!
Each month a new, carefully selected book will be mailed in your child's name directly to your home for FREE! There is no cost or obligation to families. Each child will first receive The Little Engine That Could, then receive a book each month until their 5th birthday.
Children under the age of 5 in Caldwell County.
• Be a resident of Caldwell County.
• Submit an official registration form, completely filled out by the authorized adult.
• Notify Friends of the George Coon Public Library any time your address changes. Books are mailed to the address listed on the account. If the child's address changes, the parent/guardian must contact the George Coon Public Library in order to continue receiving books.
8-12 weeks after your registration form has been received, books will begin arriving at your home and will continue until your child turns 5 or you move out of the covered area.
